Estonia is a small country on the East shore of the Baltic Sea. Its area of 45 227 km2 is comparable to the territories of the Netherlands, Switzerland or Denmark.
However, the population of Estonia is only 1.4 million people, which makes it one of the smallest countries in Europe. Estonians comprise 65.2 % of total population. On the average Estonia lies 50 m above the sea level. There are over 1500 islands off Estonian coast; the biggest of them are Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Muhu and Vormsi.
Estonia borders with four neighbors: Russia in the East, Latvia in the South, Sweden in the West and Finland in the North.
