Buses to Pärnu depart from Tallinn Bus Terminal approximately every hour and from Riga every two-three hours (see timetable). The bus ride from Tallinn or Riga to Pärnu takes around two hours. Pärnu bus station is located downtown, next to conference hotels. Most cities in Europe (e.g. Berlin, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Warsaw, etc.) are connected with Pärnu by Euroline buses. http://www.ee/timetable Tallinn has railway connections with St.Petersburg, Moscow, Riga and Warsaw. Regular ferry connection is maintained with Helsinki and Stockholm. The harbour and airport are not far from the bus station and city centre. Participants can get to the bus station or city centre by buses, tram or taxi. From 16.08.98 Tallinn Airport passenger terminal is under reconstruction and you are served at the Temporary Passenger Terminal and Tallinn Airport apologizes for inconveniences. There is running a shuttle bus between Tallinn airport and Tallinn city-center (bus station is on the way between) in every 15 minutes. This is the cheapest and most common way and will take some 7 minutes to the bus station and 12-15 minutes to the center, depending of traffic. One trip costs EEK 7. The taxi will cost about EEK 50. We were willing to organise joint transfer for most participants. However, as not many of you fixed times of arrival, there will be only one joint transfer to Pärnu. The bus will come to the hotel Viru parking lot at 21.30 and leave at 22.00 for the Tallinn airport. The bus will wait in the case of delays and leaves about 23.00 for Pärnu. All people willing to reach Pärnu this night should take this bus, because the last public transport leaves at 21.00. The expected arrival in Pärnu will be 00.40. All conference hotels are located in a walking distance from the conference venue, but in most cases bus transfer from other hotels to the conference venue will be secured (see timetable). The easiest way to approach the Conference hotel is to take a taxi, however. The taxi ride will cost you some EEK 20 maximum and take about 7-8 minutes. There are plenty of accommodation options in Pärnu. Conference delegates, who made their hotel reservations, will get all information about their hotel and arrange payment at the registration desk, together with conference registration. Citizens of Schengen countries and some other European countries are to obtain visas through the Embassies and Representatives of the Republic of Estonia. However, it is possible to obtain the visa on Estonian border. In case it should be needed the Organising Committee is willing to send a formal letter of invitation to facilitate the participation. Temperature in october is approximately 5-10° C. Weather can change very quickly, from sunshine, calm and warm, to a heavy storm and rain. An umbrella will come in handy. Power supply is 220V. Eesti kroon (EEK) is the currency used in Estonia. One EEK equals 1/8 DEM and approximately 1/14 USD. There are currency exchange offices in the airport, bus station, major hotels and department stores. Most credit cards (VISA, American Express, Eurocard, etc.) are accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants.
